Pricing & subscription

Is HomeProof really free?

Yes. The first 5 items in your vault are free forever, with all core features (scanning, OCR, search, warranty reminders, Face ID lock, iCloud backup). HomeProof Pro adds unlimited items, Insurance Report PDF generation, and the tabbed item-detail style.

How much is Pro?

$19.99 per year (or local equivalent). New users get a 7-day free trial โ€” your Apple ID is charged at the end of the trial unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends.

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone: Settings โ†’ your name (top) โ†’ Subscriptions โ†’ HomeProof Pro โ†’ Cancel Subscription. You keep Pro access until the end of the current period.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds for App Store subscriptions. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com within 90 days of the charge. We can help you draft the request โ€” email us.

I bought Pro on my old phone. How do I restore it?

Open HomeProof on the new device โ†’ Settings โ†’ Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID that bought the original.

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?

Locally on your iPhone, in a SwiftData database encrypted at rest by iOS. If you enable iCloud Backup in Settings โ†’ iCloud, an encrypted copy is also placed in your private Apple iCloud database. Tunari (the company behind HomeProof) has no servers and no copies of your vault.

Do you collect analytics?

No. The App Store privacy disclosure for HomeProof reads "Data Not Collected". The only third-party SDK is Sentry for crash diagnostics, configured to send no PII, no screenshots, and no user identifiers โ€” just stack traces. Details in the Privacy Policy.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. HomeProof โ†’ Settings โ†’ Delete vault wipes the local database and the iCloud copy in one tap. The deletion is final โ€” there is nothing to recover from "our side" because we hold nothing.

Smart Scan & OCR

OCR didn't read my receipt correctly. What do I do?

Tap the field on the OCR Review screen and edit it manually. Common issues: very faded thermal paper, glare, or non-Latin characters. For best results: scan in good light, lay the receipt flat, and use the in-app document scanner (not the camera roll).

Can I scan multi-page documents?

Yes. The scanner adds pages until you tap Save. The Insurance Report PDF and the per-item document viewer both support multi-page.

Which languages are supported?

OCR is currently optimized for English (US and UK). The app interface is also localized to English (US/UK). More languages on the roadmap.

iCloud & sync

iCloud says "Sign in to iCloud". What do I do?

On your iPhone: Settings โ†’ top section (your name) โ†’ Sign In. HomeProof uses your iCloud account for backup; we never operate accounts ourselves.

My new iPhone doesn't see my old vault.

Three checks: (1) Both devices signed in to the same Apple ID; (2) iCloud Drive enabled; (3) HomeProof's iCloud Backup toggle is on (Settings โ†’ iCloud). After all three, pull-to-refresh on Home or Vault to nudge the sync.

How much iCloud storage does HomeProof use?

Settings โ†’ iCloud โ†’ "Storage" tile shows your current size. Receipts are stored as compressed JPEG; expect roughly 100-500 KB per item.

Insurance Report (Pro)

Will my insurer accept the report?

The Insurance Report is a clean, claim-ready summary โ€” but it is not an appraisal or legal document. Most insurers accept it as supporting evidence; some will ask for original receipts as separate attachments (the report includes them). When in doubt, ask your insurer what format they prefer.

Can I customize what's included?

Yes. The Insurance Report builder lets you pick which items to include and toggle 6 sections: Receipts, Product photos, Serial numbers, Purchase prices, Total value summary, Private notes.

Troubleshooting

The app keeps crashing on launch.

Force-quit (swipe up from the bottom on iPhone โ†’ swipe up on the app card), reopen. If it persists, restart the iPhone. If still crashing, email us with your iPhone model and iOS version โ€” we'll look at the Sentry crash log.

Camera permission denied. Can I still use the app?

Yes โ€” add items manually or import from your photo library. To re-enable scanning: iPhone Settings โ†’ HomeProof โ†’ Camera โ†’ On.

Notifications aren't appearing for warranty expiries.

Check: iPhone Settings โ†’ HomeProof โ†’ Notifications โ†’ Allow Notifications. Then in HomeProof: Settings โ†’ Reminders โ†’ Warranty reminder days โ€” make sure it's set to a value greater than 0.

Beta / TestFlight

I'm a beta tester. Where do I send feedback?

The fastest path: TestFlight app โ†’ HomeProof โ†’ "Send Beta Feedback". This auto-attaches device info and a screenshot. Alternatively email us with the subject "HomeProof Beta".

How do I leave the beta?

TestFlight app โ†’ HomeProof โ†’ "Stop Testing". You'll keep the App Store version (when released) by reinstalling.
